Some pretty rad people

-“As a ski instructor rehabilitating from a series of injuries, I first started attending Grant’s training curious about how to set my body up for success during the busy season and to keep my knee happy while doing what I love! I was lacking some range in motion and in that awkward point in recovery where I could do everything I wanted but the movements didn’t always come easy or were without discomfort. I wanted to feel confident in my skiing and able to access movements that would allow me to make changes!
Grant’s training helped support these goals and allowed me to learn so much more than I even imagined about how functional movement and warm-ups allow us to achieve more in our skiing and riding. Grant is always willing to answer my questions about ways I can better support my body to improve range of motion or strengthen my knee to help support a movement.
Three seasons later I am skiing stronger than I was pre-injury, achieved certification goals, and am better able to articulate movement patterns to my guests. Grant’s training and support has been a huge piece in that journey!!”

-“I came to Grant with a tight outer-left thigh and a pinching sensation on the inner thigh, flaring up at squat depth with a click. As a snowboard instructor logging 140 days a season, I was worried about being able to work and enjoy the big powder days without a lot of pain or developing an injury.
Grant ran his assessments and found the compensation patterns I’d built up over time. He went straight to the muscles that were causing tightness – sequencing out releasing the tension from overactive muscles with position specific warmups, and got the under active ones firing again with focused isolated joint movements and summoning tension at my joints end range, then integrated it straight back into my squat pattern.
It felt like magic – I felt an 80% reduction in discomfort squatting almost immediately. Now I’ve got tools I understand for my body and I’m stoked to head into the season with better activation patterns and no pain.”

-“I came to Grant with a history of hip pain and my back locking up. I had been to a Physical Therapist for the nagging pain and received some benefit from dry needling and strengthening exercises, but after a few months I felt back in the same spot. When I got to Grant I was frustrated by the daily discomfort I was experiencing during and after days teaching skiing. The pain was also affecting how much I could push for improving my own skiing on days off. After an hour with Grant I had tangible action to take regarding the mobility of the joint. After a week of following his mobility routine, I was moving more freely and with less discomfort. He was incredibly consistent and thoughtful with his follow up after our meeting.
This summer, I got back to running, which reaggravated the pain in my hip. I haven’t had my back fully lock-up like it occasionally would in the past. I have also been slacking a bit on the mobility routine, so am excited to work with Grant again in the future to get to a place where I can move, ski, run, perform and live without discomfort.”

-“I came to Grant during my post surgery recovery from having my LCL and Tibiofibular ligament reconstructed. I had an extremely complicated ordeal with my injury. I had been misdiagnosed multiple times with months of rehab focused on the wrong diagnosis which led to a delayed surgery. I was struggling to be healthy enough for my knee to feel normal and to be cleared to return to snowboarding.
During my recovery process I had hit a plateau. I had been going to PT for over a year and had a stack of workouts to follow but I wasn’t progressing. This was evident from the results I was producing at PT during my strength testing. My repaired leg had a significant lack of strength, range of motion, and stamina compared to my other leg and the improvement had stalled. I worried that would be “my new normal” and I would struggle with knee pain, leg weakness, and instability for the rest of my life.
Grant helped me by building a workout program that used the foundation of the Physical Therapy program I had been doing and combined them with exercises that highlighted muscle groups that I had been neglecting. This immediately rejuvenated my workouts and challenged me. Progress soon followed and was apparent in my strength testing. The torque vs position data for both legs improved my and my repaired leg was able to close the gap and eventually match the output from my non repaired leg. I regained my strength, confidence, and was eventually cleared to return to snowboarding!
In addition to guiding my physical recovery Grant coached me on with a holistic approach that included my mental health and recovery!
Grant was even there for me on my first snowboard run after I had been cleared to return to the slopes!”
